City Information & Badge Information
Unova is big- there's a large number of cities and towns, and even a few smaller, out of town locations just as worthy of note. Finding pokemon is one thing- you can find that information on the Travel info page here. Knowing what supplies a store sells is also good, but that's for the Shops page. This page is all about the town itself- though for bonus measure, there's a note on just what 'human' stock is typically available too. Those particular wares switch around so often that they won't be listed on the shopping page.
As for the badges? Each one triggers a response from the Entralink, allowing instant teleportation to certain sites. However, these same badges trigger very specific responses from the badge-check of the Pokemon League; you won't be able to pass if four of your badges are the two basic badges plus the toxic and trio! You'll have to choose one Basic, and either Trio or Toxic instead! Of course, for each challenge on Badges or similar, you'll need to ask for Mod approval- but that's expected isn't it?
For ease of navigation, take a look at the map below! Each city, town, or notable point of interest is linked underneath it; simply click which one you're curious about, and scroll!

Aspertia City * Flocessy Town * Viribank City * PokeStar Studios * Anville Town

The Pokemon League
Entralink;
The starting locations of all newbies. From here, they can teleport to Nuvema Town or Nimbasa City. During the two year period, the Entralink Man as he was known has gotten a little on in his years- he can't move around like he used to! Though he still sends a weekly allowance to all 'foreign trainers', most of the duties of the Entralink are taken care of by Yuuma and Iris, who started helping him out after moving into the area.
Aside from explaining things overall and giving everyone starter kits of supplies, Iris and Yuuma both take part in a few other helpful things- Iris offers a flight service, which can be found here. Yuuma however seems to split up his time between the Entralink and Join Avenue for some reason...
Their typical explanation of things can be found on this page, which also covers the Breeder's Package!
Aspertia City;
One of two starting cities, Aspertia has the fortune (or misfortune) of also being the location of the second Basic Badge. However Cheren refuses to face anyone who lacks a pokedex entry for 'Mareep'- the idea appears to be that by forcing trainers to visit Flocessy Ranch, trainers will without a doubt be strong enough to handle the gym.
It works.
By defeating Cheren, Trainers gain access to the student library in the city- the library network is connected to that of the one in Nacrene in fact, so whatever information is available in one library will be available in the other as well! If a trainer already has the Trio Badge, they'll receive the TM Work-Up instead of HM01.
As a starting point, the city tends to keep a stock of proper travel clothes and camping supplies best they can, but they tend to fall short when compared to Flocessy- the proximity of the two areas prevents this from being much of an issue however.
Flocessy Town;
A quiet, rural region of farms, Flocessy Town is famed for its strong trainers- Alder, the region's previous Champion, resides here in fact! Flocessy typically stocks lots of farm and breeding supplies or wear, but in addition keeps a healthy stock of top-line camping supplies! Wonderful!
Aside from that there's little to see; a rather old, ruinous tower without entry stands at the side of the town, and near the north of the Town there's a path to a clearing known as Pledge Grove. Going out into Route 20 gets you to the Flocessy Ranch; as a farm of Mareep, you'll find plenty of woolen goods here in winter! (Careful though, they're prone to static build.)
Viribank City;
The second city in the Flocessy Region, Viribank is a harbor center of activity, with somewhat clouded waters thanks to the power plant to the south. Pokemon still live fine in this water however, and in fact seem to thrive in the Power Plant itself. Bizarre! To the north is PokeStar Studios, but the real focus of Viribank is the Gym- Defeat Roxie, and she'll give trainers a pass that covers free travel, either direction, for themselves and their party, for the ferry to Castelia. Otherwise, the Ferry typically costs 500P. As a harbor center, there's a fair amount of marine supply here; proper boating equipment, rain-suits- that sort of thing. However, it's also a huge hotspot for musical instruments, guitars in particular!
Trainers who have defeated Lenora of Nacrene already will get the TM Venoshock instead of HM04.
PokeStar Studios;
Would you like to be a star? Too bad, the Studio doesn't just grab anyone you know. Viribank Studios is a film set and a theatre all in one; various parts of the Studio are even open to the public to watch from the side, so you can see how your favorite movies are made! The theatre itself is fairly large; there are eight screenings at any one time, and the concession stand sells plenty of food or drink- so sit back, relax, enjoy the movie!
Anville Town;
Ahhh Anville Town. Far distant from most of Unova, this rural settlement can only be reached either by flight or train- specifically the one in Nimbasa. While not particularly exciting, there's a lot of business here for those with an interest in vehicles; in fact, it's where the Caravan Engines and Caravans themselves are constructed before being transported to Nimbasa! Many of the travellers here enjoy trades in certain furnishings or decorations as a result; information on this can be found on the Berry Market page.
Nuvema Town;
Home to the famed Pokemon Professor Juniper, Nuvema is an alternative starting choice for breeders and trainers who arrive in the Entralink. Nuvema is small, but is nonetheless host to a rather special treat; the fields in the area are the very fields which correspond with the boxes of Unova's PC system, and it's their activity in such boxes which often aids basic research the professor's assistants work on.
As a starting town, there's a fair amount of camping equipment available; however most of their clothing is better off coming from Accumula really. In addition to this, Nuvema has the option for trainers to apply for an 'HM Liscence'; this is for those who don't wish to partake in the gym challenge, or even contests, and comes in a series of level cap requirements for each HM.
Accumula Town;
Somewhat famous for being the site of Ghetsis' 'liberation speech' two years prior, Accumula as a whole is typically a wonderful site for live shows and speeches, regardless of the content and meaning- particularly common are 'street battles', typically taking form in either Triple format, or the ever complex 'Rotation'. It's a quiet place, but assuredly worth sticking around for a small while. Accumula tends to have a better source of clothing as well; in fact, the seamstress there may even make a custom outfit if given a little extra cash!
Striaton City;
Striaton City is where the first gym of Unova is located - as well as a trainer school, and the house of the people who used to work on the Dream World Systems before the incident. Now, they're trying to reconnect those systems, as well as assist with the trainers who pass though.
There's also a whole garden near to the city - a great place for relaxing with friends. There's a few Pokemon around there, but they belong to the caretakers of the garden, and can't be caught.
As for the gym itself? It's a cafe, too! If you win, you can also get a discount on food prices.
For those who enter through Nuvema, Striaton is the first City most will encounter. Formerly considered the 'First Gym', it now shares this title with the Gym of Aspertia, though many will agree that Striaton has not at all lost its spark. Gym aside, this is the city of 'Dreams and Food'- the Gym doubles as a luxurious cafe, periodically stocked with only the best for your dining experience! Also located in Striaton is the Trainer School, as well as the center for Dream World Studies; if one makes an appointment here, then for a hefty sum, they'll be able to even enter this world in fact! Information on this can be found on the Dream World page.
Those who already defeated Cheren in Aspertia will receive the TM 'Work-Up' rather than 'HM01'.
Nacrene City;
Formerly left in a mild slump when the Nimbasa train broke down to leave abandoned tracks, Nacrene has recently been re-connected to the underground routes of the Battle Subway! A city of knowledge, Nacrene's biggest highlight is by far their library, which is located in the same building as the famed Nacrene Museum of History. Aside from being a haven of knowledge however, Nacrene appears to be quite the place for actual book purchases as well, along with materials for writing and note-keeping. Defeat Lenora, and receive a discount on such things- as well as continual access to the library, and the Peninsula Route of the Battle Subway!
If Roxie was defeated already, Lenora will instead give trainers the TM Retaliate.
Liberty Island;
This island sits mid-route between Viribank and Castelia City, and is the apple of Castelia's eye- rumored to be the home of a family which was key in Castelia's rise to glory, the island serves as a neat little pit-stop for tourists, as well as a place to fill on gas for the ferry. The food is as expected- a few stands, vending machines- however if some lucky trainer manages to find a way into the tower other than the norm, they may find more to the story of the 'rich family and their pokemon'... ...Of course that has to go through the mods first! Plot! Plot!
Castelia City;
As the largest city in Unova by far, it's not surprising that there's a lot to see. You can buy just about anything in Castelia, outside most city-specific pokemon supplies; clothes, food, it has it all! In particular, there's a lot of art supply, as well as gallery decoration- after all, the Gym Leader is a fairly renowned artist! And of course, there are apartments a-plenty; if one plays their cards right, it's the perfect place to set up a home- after all, there's always a job somewhere!
Burgh is the first 'non optional' Gym so to speak, and he's certainly not let it go to his head. After a number of renovations he's entirely changed the gym experience most have, with honey walls replaced instead by non-sticking webbing. In addition to the gym however, there's also the Sewers to consider; a number of places in Castelia are connected through the Sewer systems, key of which is Castelia park. Careful not to get lost though! GPS or not, combined with the enormity of the place, the faulty transceiver signal in the sewers makes it easy to lose your way!
Pokeathalon Building;
Welcome to a land of sports, sports, and more sports! The Pokeathalon Dome is just getting on its feet, but it's certainly a site to behold. An imported concept from Johto, the dome is home to a number of physical activities, which can either be participated in for amusement, or for competition. It also houses the entrance to the Relic Passage, which joins Driftveil, Castelia, and the maze of tunnels beneath Relic Castle- though more information on this place can be found here.
White Forest;
A forest surrounding Black City, it serves a stark contrast to the enormity of technology by countering it with huge white-bark trees, some of which even serve as houses! Aside from being a source of a number of healthy, strong pokemon for Little Cup Battles however, White Forest is also home to the 'Berry Market', a trade of berries for numerous pieces of furniture which can be used either in a home, a Caravan, or even a hide-away in the Dream World. Information on the Berry Market can be found here.
Black City;
Sitting in the center of White Forest, the skyscrapers of Black City are so tall that they threaten to blot out the sun with cast shadows- indeed, the darkness of the streets and the neon lighting surrounding their buildings can cause a steep sense of 'night' in the area... Greatly contrasting that of the White Forest's 'light'. Black City serves as a huge 'quick stop shop' for those who can't seem to find what they want, selling almost every object in existence- for double the typical price. It's also home to the Battle Tower, a Gym Simulation wherein trainers can practice battles without the typical consequence of payment- the only catch of course being that there's no prize money... Unless, of course, they manage to face the 'Champion' simulation in the form of Tower Boss 'Benga', son of Alder! They can re-challenge him as much as they like, but they can only claim the prize money once. The first battle with Benga must also go through the Mods- More information on that here, on the 'Real Time Battle' page. The other battles don't- there's no gain, and you'll surely not cheat a win from something with no prize... Right?
Lentimas Town;
A town surrounded by ash and heat, that's Lentimas. Buried in myth and lore, there's a whole load of supersitious folk here thanks to the Strange House to the east- it's partially why it's still there in fact. Lentimas has a large export of charms and trinkets of bizarre worth, as well as a particularly fertile mulch which Mistralton's Berry farms have full claim over. However, aside from the plane trip back and forth, they also have a wonderful Hot Springs! Be sure to pick up your souvenirs on the way out now! (What do you mean you don't need a wooden mask, dear trainer? It's just your size!)
Lacunosa Town;
Shrouded in myth and legend and local terrifying folklore, welcome to Lacunosa- quite likely the only town in all of Unova without curfew problems. A large wall around the city only serves to intensify the fear of a legendary pokemon from legends of Giant Chasm slipping in to devour them- evidently the legendary one can't fly.
That aside, Lacunosa has recently been making a fair bit of business on the side with their specialty bikes, which garnered a fair bit of popularity over those of Castelia. They also deal in pokeball seals, which create interesting effects upon activation, and tend to sell a number of handy accessories and repair kits for those interested in taking long journeys with their bikes. They also ship their basic bicycles to those who make a special request in fact! ...For a small bonus fee of 5,000P for delivery, of course. Which is conveniently covered by the Gym Challenge Discount, how interesting...
Undella Town;
A paradise by the sea, to those who enjoy beach-combing and deep-sea diving at least. A popular place for summer homes, Undella is also home to the Relic Museum, which regularly takes new donations from any pieces found beneath the sea. These pieces are worth quite a lot of money- enough that they aren't listed on any page even! If deep sea diving into the Abyssal Ruin is on the mind, run it by the mods before pulling anything out- there's only so much there after all! (Though admittedly, some treasure does seem to replenish itself to an extent...)
Undella Town also houses one side of the Marine Tube, a recent transport effort between it and Humilau. As a beach-town, it also sells a fair amount of swim wear, particularly things such as air-tanks and masks for those wishing to dive around the sea. ...Just don't expect to make it into the Ruins without a pokemon that knows Dive.
Marine Tube;
The tube which spans Undella Town and Humilau City is long and calmly lit, an enormous tunnel of steel and glass which is so large that two rows of Caravans could pass- which is good, because the tunnel is both ways after all.
At the gates of the tunnel, a challenge is always proposed, a challenge which is most often failed; while travelling through the tunnel, many pokemon of the sea pass overhead, occasionally peering down to those curious land-dwellers who walk across the ocean floor. Very rarely however, a Wailord will appear; a sight surely worthy of a photograph!
With the distance of the tunnel, there are many rest-stops set up along the tube, and signs which warn of the next point. These stops include small parking spaces for Caravans, and even smaller 'eelektrik motel' cubbies about the size of a grown man; it's just a pit stop and a sleep after all, not a vacation! That's why it's free after all. And of course they have small meals as well- have to pay for those though.
Humilau City;
Welcome to the city of sunlight and pleasant breezes! A popular honeymooning destination, there are many rich folk and elders who choose to retire in Humilau, breathing in the fresh air and relishing in the almost continuous lack of storm. Aside from being a wonderful place to relax, there's also a lot of beach-combing to be done; aside from the expected bathing suits for sale, one will also find wonderful summer themed clothing, and even metal detectors or shovels to go hunting for treasure and shellder!
Of course the main reason most come here is for the gym; Marlon is a fairly laid-back sort, and tends to randomly be absent from his post, but he assuredly takes his duty as optional 'seventh gym' quite seriously! If trainers have already defeated Brycen before challenging him however, he gives the TM Scald instead of the standard HM.
Shopping Mall 9;
You know what time it is? Time to go shopping that's what! This large mall sits in the middle of Route 9, hence the name; an enormous department store of goods, it serves mostly as a rather large PokeMart- however, in addition to numerous vitamins and goods, it also holds a large stock of protective clothing for cyclists and breeders, as well as the ever fruity export 'Apricorn Juice'! The juice doesn't actually do anything to affect pokemon and trainers of course, but it at least tastes delicious- might make a pokemon feel more 'friendly' even...
Village Bridge;
A village which truly shows the strength of a people, this village was built directly into the bridge over a century ago, after the original homes were destroyed in a devastating flood. To this day, the floodwaters still come- however with settlements upon higher ground, the risk is gone- particularly with Opelucid's construction funding, which allowed not only stronger homes, but a similar lighting system to the city, which gives the bridge lanterns an interesting blue shine.
The Village offers a small number of curious bonuses- Unova famous sandwiches are a big one, with the Caravan-run cafe even holding a regular Karaoke night on Wednesdays. There's also a small family of breeders on the bridge, who often sell small toys or dishes for more house-broken pokemon; however the Breeder's Market follows the Berry Trade, so it's better to look to that page rather than the Shops. Most important of course is the cavern entrance in the plain just north the East end of the bridge; it leads to the Western side of the Giant Chasm tunnels, exiting not far from the tunnel that leads into Route 23.
As for the badges? Each one triggers a response from the Entralink, allowing instant teleportation to certain sites. However, these same badges trigger very specific responses from the badge-check of the Pokemon League; you won't be able to pass if four of your badges are the two basic badges plus the toxic and trio! Route 4;
Looking for a place to stay? Well look no further than here! Though the west side of the route took a sharp hit that left buildings in ruins, the east- which runs straight from Castelia to Nimbasa- is protected from the harsh sandstorms, and is in fact an extremely popular area for apartment and house rentals! With the proximity to Castelia and Nimbasa both, as well as the desert sands for space, it's not surprising that a number of veteran breeders choose Route 4's residential area as a home.
Join Avenue;
And you thought Route 9 had the best shopping? HAH! A construct which came with the revolutionary construction work on Route 4, Join Avenue is a long tunnel of independent stalls and shops- all with wares from worldwide, which have never been seen! There are six stores here; information on all of them can be found on the Join Avenue page here, but overall, it's well worth the walk between Route 4's residential area and Nimbasa City!
Nimbasa City;
Many who come through the Entralink stop by Nimbasa rather than picking up on a journey, and it's no surprise; after Castelia and Black City, Nimbasa is a center of lights and action, without the cluttered skyscrapers of the first two. Being the fashion center of Unova, it's no surprise that the city stocks the latest in fashion and accessories here; for both human and pokemon in fact! It's also home to a number of other things; the official Breeder Center for one, as well as the home of Caravan Purchases, the Contest Musical Hall, the Battle Subway (which now has a route connected to Nacrene in fact) and even two sports domes, where people can watch events of more human nature; tennis or basketball in the small dome, and football or soccer in the larger one!
However it isn't all sunshine here; while there's no bar in visiting the theme park, or even the site of the old gym of roller coasters, Elesa won't just let anyone on her catwalk! She refuses to challenge anyone without an Insect Badge, after an agreement with Burgh; there's too many new people coming in, and she'd rather not deal with a crowd of newbies with level five starters!

With the proximity to Castelia and Nimbasa both, as well as the desert sands for space, it's not surprising that a number of veteran breeders choose Route 4's residential area as a home.
Join Avenue;
Nimbasa City;
GYM LEADER - Elesa; Emolga - 39 Eelektric - 43 Ampharos - 42 Galvantuna - 40 Zebstrika - 44 REWARD: 9720P, TM72, ![]() Can now teleport to Nimbasa City and Anville Town. |
Driftveil City;
The issue of the seas has been solved at last, and Clay couldn't be more proud! A city of industry and trades from hard work bottom up, the creation of the 'Clay Tunnel' couldn't have helped business more! The multitude of stones and fossils discovered sent a huge spike in business, to the point that even with the ports opening back up, they'd be well off regardless. With all there is, there's yet more as well; Driftveil tends to have a lot in the way of work-clothes and equipment, particularly emergency supply such as first aid kits or rations. You can never tell with cave ins after all.
In addition to the mines and tunnels created however, there's the addition of the Pokeathalon- a building which summons trainers from all over the world for competition of another sort, focusing purely on the strengths and skills of pokemon without such things as 'type advantage' or 'level'. A dome for sports, it's a contest all on its own- and as such, has it's own page as well.

Pokeathalon Building;
Mistralton City;
Welcome to windy Mistralton, home of Unova's plane service and berry orchards! Though there's very few outside the business living here, there's still plenty to do. Berries are certainly the largest export, however Mistralton also sells lots of seasonal wear for those preparing for a trek through Twist Mountain, or Goggles for those intending to take the plane to Lentimas. Speaking of Lentimas, Skyla will offer a free pass to Lentimas and back, as often as is liked, to those who defeat her in the gym- the plane's even large enough to transport Caravans!
And now that Iris has taken over most of the flight services, Skyla is able to focus almost entirely on her Gym duties- this meant she was able to renovate the Gym in addition to opening challenges in the day in fact!

Icirrus City;
A city built into the Mountainside, the people of Icirrus are adept at living in peace with pokemon in their surroundings. Home to a number of windmills, the city sells a number of traditional forms of fabric product, such as clothing, or bedding, all wonderfully handcrafted. It's also home to the Pokemon Fan Club, whose members will gladly share tips on pokemon care with visiting breeders! However it's quite vulnerable to snowfall, so be warned- without the right clothing, winter will bare its teeth quite harshly.
As a side note, for some reason, defeating Brycen in the Gym will grant a free movie viewing for the trainer and eight friends at PokeStar Studios... It turns out he's a famous actor!
If trainers appear having already defeated Marlon of Humilau, Brycen will give them the TM Frost Breath.

White Forest;
Black City;
Right?
TOWER BOSS - Benga; Benga will face trainers in either a Rotation, or a Triple Battle- and his pokemon are always three of the six below! Latias - Level 100 Volcarona - Level 100 Garchomp - Level 100 Latios - Level 100 Lapras - Level 100 Dragonite - Level 100 REWARD: 18360P Congratulations! You can probably face the Elite Four and Champion now. |
Lentimas Town;
Lacunosa Town;
Undella Town;
Marine Tube;
Humilau City;

Shopping Mall 9;
Opelucid City;
After Iris- the 'real' Iris, that is- defeated Alder, the two swapped places in a sense. Alder retired, returning to his home in Flocessy, and Iris took up the mantle of Pokemon Champion- Rawr!
In her absence, Opelucid seems to have entered a strange sort of harmony with itself- though the buildings appear charmingly rustic and white-grey in the daylight, once night falls it changes completely! The buildings seem to darken as an exquisite blue shine comes from well hidden lights, giving the city a brilliant feel for the technological advancements from a welcomed future. It's a wondrous merge of Ideals and Truth, of the Past and Present- and now that he's alone, Drayden faces challengers with a team reflecting this, with a hard hitting double battle from a team of six!
As Opelucid no longer hosts the entrance of a swift route to the Pokemon League, Opelucid entered an agreement with the people of Village Bridge. In exchange for the money needed to fund stronger construction and restoration of the bridge, thus furthering its existence, a tunnel was carved between it and the Giant Chasm. It's still not as short a distance as Route 10 ever was, but it's still swifter than hiking all the way to Route 13. Perhaps as compensation, the city sells various lighting equipment to make the journey easier through dark caverns, as well as offering X-Transceiver customization; purely aesthetic of course.

Village Bridge;
The Pokemon League;
Ah, the Pokemon League. After you get past Victory Road, you get to a small settlement - set up for trainers, so they can rest up and prepare for the final battles against the Elite Four.
Except, right now, the Elite Four aren't taking challengers, due to Marshal and his feelings towards the outsiders. Sucks, but you've gotta deal with it.
After Yuuma, along with Iris of Mistralton, blasted through here, Marshall was finally knocked off his high-horse about the outsiders; as a result, the Pokemon League is now open to challengers of all kinds! After making it up the stairs from Victory road, two towers can be seen at either side of the enormous pillared structure in the center- one houses the Pokemon Center and PokeMart, as is typical; the other is an inn, free of charge for visitors while they wait their turn to challenge, or for accompanying members of the party. It's the least they can do after all!
Defeat all four members of the Elite Four, and the central statue will become an elevator to the enormous spacial chamber above- in there, one will face the Champion, Iris of Opelucid! The Elite Four may be faced in any order- they're tough though, so watch it!
