A Word of Welcome from The Entralink!

You've opened your eyes and found your strange little partner, but in the end it's not likely you know quite what's going on right now. Maybe you were found by Iris- maybe not, but either way as the new comers in the Entralink explore they'll find themselves at a strange spiraling tree, and a small house not far from it.

This is the Entralink, and it is here that you'll find your  guide to starting off, among things. You have a starting pokemon, but that doesn't mean you've got all you need after all! Most likely players will run into Iris of Mistralton before finding Yuuma, but occasionally it may be the other way around- their explanation to you, either way, is thus:

'Welcome to Unova! You must be pretty confused huh? We're very sorry for the inconvenience, but unfortunately it's just beyond our control! You've been called here- summoned by the pokemon Arceus- to help with events that are due to come in a short time. How or why that is, we don't know- but Arceus always has a good reason.

'This is a land of Pokemon, creatures which live in harmony with humans, in all shapes and sizes. Some choose to fight with them. Some choose to raise them- and others still simply enjoy their life with their partner and captured pokemon at their side. If you don't know how to catch them, that's okay! Most people who come here don't! That's what we're here for! Just listen up and listen well- you'll do fine, guarantee it! We were in the same spot you were once, after all!'

Iris and Yuuma will explain anything that needs to be explained, as long as its within their power- how do badges and ribbons work, how are pokemon caught... There's a lot of questions!

Many of them are answered on their respective pages. However questions that don't have an answer at all can be asked either here, or on the FAQ page- and the answer will quite likely be logged away on this page right here!

Ah, but that isn't the point after all right? You've woken up with a pokemon, but what else is there for you? Surely they're not simply going to send you out and wish you luck! You're absolutely right, actually- they won't.

The Basics

Iris and Yuuma have prepared starter packages, just like the ones the Entralink Man used to make. In addition, after some negotiations with Nimbasa, Iris has gotten permission to approve Breeder's Liscences, meaning that anyone interested in such a career path is open to start right off!

All newcomers, regardless of choices however, will receive the package below:

1 Backpack (Comes in a variety of styles and colours!)
1 X-Transceiver (Comes pre-loaded with: Phone and Video, Pokedex, Map, Notepad, Address Book)
- Optional 'Apps' are often free, unless another player made them. The sky's the limit!
5 Potions
5 Pokeballs
5,000P

Newcomers also receive a Licence to travel with Pokemon, which varies in appearance depending on the chosen status. Trainers not wishing to tackle the Gym Challenge, or take up Breeding, are given a Blue Card. Trainers going after the Gym Challenge are given an Orange Card, while Breeders receive a Purple Card. There are two other upgrades which are available to both however; complete the full pokedex, excluding legendaries, and receive a Silver Card. defeat the Champion of Unova, or attain the coveted 'Dream Rank Contest Ribbon' however, and Trainers receive the Black or White card respectively! What happens if someone does both?

Behold, your card is now a checkerboard. (That must be hard to read...)

In addition to this, all newcomers will receive a weekly allowance of 2,000P- it's not much, but if you spend your money right it can pile up fast! Combined with your 5,000P, perhaps you'll be able to more easily be prepared for the journey ahead.

Trainers and Breeders

Of course now that you have that covered, there's a choice that must be made. While most would be able to return home if they wanted now that the Entralink is powered up, for some reason those just starting off can't seem to get there. One possible solution is to gather badges or ribbons, condensing more power to pin down the portal to the home world- however it could simply be that there's an otherworldly reason for such things, which means it wouldn't be required.

So, what do you pick? If you decide to go with neither the Gym Challenge nor the Breeder's Licence, you'll be able to pick from Nuvema or Aspertia as a warp point and do as you like from there.

Pick the Gym Challenge, and Yuuma will give you a second set of supplies; one is a Bike Voucher, which automatically takes 5,000P off the price of a Bicycle. Conveniently, 5,000P happens to be the cost of shipping a bike out from Lacunosa. Trainers taking the Gym Challenge also receive an 'ApriShaker'. Don't let the name fool you however! The ApriShaker doesn't need those Johto region apricorns to work- Trainers typically use them to turn berries into delicious energy drinks, for either human or pokemon consumption. Trainers going after the Gym Challenge often need a quick pick-me-up after all, since they tend to travel faster than even standard trainers; it's a fresh counterpart to bottled water, and often costs less to make as well, powering itself by either walking or cycling!

Additionally, Yuuma will give Gym Challengers a case to hold their badges in, before helping them to get the Orange Card made.

Choose to apply for a Breeder's Licence, and Iris will pull you aside to get the Purple Card made. In addition, she'll give them a package containing the following; a Prop Case, which includes 5 props or accessories of choice, an HM Licence which allows the use of HMs outside of battle, a PokeBlock & Poffin case, which comes with a recipe book, and finally a large manual on the breeding and caring of pokemon. The Breeder's Licence automatically grants a 5,000P discount on all Caravan purchases- and yes, the discount stacks!

Breeders are also given the option to warp directly to Nimbasa rather than starting in Aspertia or Nuvema; Nimbasa is the home of the Contest hall after all, and arguably the breeding center of Unova. They're expected to breed the pokemon after all, so might as well encourage them!

In the event a trainer picks both, Iris typically puts their HM Licence on probation; as badges are gained, the probation lessens, so that these Breeder-Challengers don't have an unfair advantage over their Trainer counterparts.

Quick Links

So now that you have your packages, where to now? Well, the below is a set of links which should prove useful for reference on anything you need! Some are best for everyone- others may only apply to Breeders. Either way, you can find them below!

City and Badge Information * Travel & Pokemon Encounters * Hidden Grottos
Join Avenue * PokeMart & Store Info * The Berry Market
Caravans * The Dream World * Pokeathalon

In addition, the pages below are wonderful OOC reference; if you ever need to check the rules, or need to make a Hiatus notice, just look down here- the same links are also on the Profile page of the Mod account, and the three Com accounts. Note that 'Secondary Application' doesn't refer to additional muses! A Secondary Muse is someone tied to an existing one- perhaps as a spirit, or as a partner pokemon. They thus are not considered full muses, and don't get the same rights and bonuses as players, while lacking the Activity Check requirement.
